Yarn Expo Spring is gearing up for another year as a significant showcase for yarns and fibres in China. The show runs 22 – 24 March 2007 concurrent with Intertextile Beijing 2007, at the China World Trade Centre, Beijing.
Yarn and fibre producers call the show an essential destination for meeting Chinese textile manufacturers and other valuable buyers.
“The quality of visitors is definitely improving,“ said Ravi N. Ravindranathan, Deputy Director of Texprocil, the Indian government-sponsored Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, a long-time exhibitor returning to the March show.
Bruno Douchy, Sales Director from Procotex of Belgium, said the quality of the visitors is the reason his company returns to the show every year. “This fair is a big meeting point for a lot of our Chinese customers. Especially with the growing demand for linen into the Chinese market. This market has grown from 20,000 spindles to 700,000 spindles in 10 years. So it's a must to be present.“
Exhibitors will present product groups across the fibre and yarn spectrum including natural, man-made and blended. Natural fibres and yarn account for the majority of products expected.
“This year Procotex will show linen tops for the blending market with wool or silk fibres. Also cottonised flax will be introduced which is ideal for blends with cotton or polyester,“ Mr Douchy added.
After attending the show five times in the past, Mr Ravindranathan said Yarn Expo has not only improved trade opportunities for Indian cotton yarn and fibre producers selling to China - it has also helped Indian textile makers source important Chinese speciality yarns. “It’s beneficial both ways,“ he said. “There is definitely a scope for expanding.“
Yarn Expo will include: natural fibres and yarns including cotton, wool, silk and linen/ramie; regenerated and synthetic man-made fibres and yarns; specialty products; and elastic, fancy and blended yarns. Nearly 5,000 visitors from 47 countries and regions attended Yarn Expo Spring 2006.
As the world leader in clothing and textile manufacturing, China has a tremendous demand for yarns and fibres. That demand is fueled by textile and apparel export growth, but domestic consumption is also playing a significant role. China’s per capita fibre consumption nearly doubled between 2000 and 2005, from 7.5 kg to to 14 kg and yarn imports grew 6% in 2006 over 2005.
