Jiangxi: Five Textile Sectors to Meet Good Opportunity

Jiangxi Province recently has mapped out the 12th five-year plan for its textile industry. According to the plan, Jiangxin will turn itself into a newly-emerged textile and garment production base and make the local textile economy accounting for about 3.5% of the country′s total in 2011-2015 period.
In the next five years, the textile industry is to grow at an annual average of more than 20% and to reach the following goals: industrial value added of above-scale enterprises to reach CNY 50 billion, prime business income to CNY 200 billion, pre-tax profit to amount to CNY 15 billion. In which, the industrial value added of garment industry to reach CNY 24 billion, prime business revenue reach CNY 80 billion and pre-tax profit CNY 6 billion, at an annual average growth of more than 25%; the production of yarn, garment, chemical fibers of above-scale enterprises respectively to reach 1.2 million tons, 2 billion pieces and 280,000 tons, rising 10%, 10% and 15% annually.
During the five-year plan period, the textile and garment industry will focus on developing garment, cotton textile, knitting, chemical fiber and characteristic home-textiles sectors.
The garment sector will implement the strategy of shifting from "order processing" to "brand operation". It will focus on developing down coat, knitted garment, ladies′ wear and trousers, especially make up the shortage of garment for the elderly and junior consumers. The cotton textile sector will put stress on developing high-quality yarn and fabric for casual wear and develop itself into a national production base for casual wear fabric and characteristic yarn through promoting technological transformation, eliminating obsolete equipment, pushing forward the application of new technologies in printing, dyeing and finishing process and developing high value-added and eco-friendly products.
The knitting sector will focus on developing viscose staple and technical textiles. Based on existing key enterprises and key projects, the sector will make efforts to developing high-performance fibers, differential fibers and eco-friendly fibers and at the same time, developing marketable technical textiles.
The characteristic home-textiles sector will put stress on developing ramie, silk and cotton home-textiles. It will coordinate bast fiber, silk and cotton sectors to jointly develop special-purpose yarn and develop high-grade grass linen and silk home-textiles.
The five-year plan also puts forward seven measures to ensure the textile and garment industry to reach the goal. These measures include increasing the scale of textile economy by getting prepared for the westward movement of textile industry; building independent brands to improve comprehensive competitiveness; pushing forward the construction of key projects to guarantee long-term development of the industry; pushing forward independent innovation to improve core competitiveness of the industry; cultivating industrial clusters to gain collective competitive advantages; giving support to the development of textile markets to extend textile chain; and developing cyclic economy to promote sustainable development. In the five-year plan period, the local textile industry plans to set up 200 projects each costs an investment of more than CNY 100 million and invest CNY 100 billion in fixed assets.
