China's import of T&A USD 12 billion in Jan. – Aug. 2006

Statistics by China Customs reveal that China's total imp. & exp. value of foreign trade recorded U.S. dollar 1104.61 billion in Jan.- Aug. 2006 increasing 23.90% compared with the same period of last year. Among them, export was 599.63 billion dollars, increasing 25.90%; while import was 504.98 billion dollars, increasing 21.60%. Trade surplus was 94.6.6 billion dollars. In which, China’s gross export value of textile and apparel in Jan. – Aug. 2006 was 105.202 billion dollars, up 22.25% year-on-year, taking up 9.52% of China’s total foreign trade.
Statistics said that China’s gross import value of textile and apparel reached 11.909 billion dollars, up 6.07% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 2.36% of gross import value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile import was 10.78 billion dollars, increasing 4.97%% compared with the same period of last year, and apparel import was 1.129 billion dollars, increasing 17.83% compared with the same period of last year. The favorable balance of textile and apparel trade reached 81.384 billion dollars in Jan.-June., 2006.
Among the main import countries and areas, Japan, Taiwan PR China and South Korea became top three. In Jan. to Aug. 2006, the import textile and apparel from Japan, Taiwan PR China and South Korea was 2.178 billion dollars, 2.146 billion dollars, and 1.726 billion dollars separately, down 2.89%, up 1.68% and down 17.26% separately on the previous year.
Statistics by China Customs reveal that China’s gross export value of textile and apparel in Jan. – Aug. 2006 was 93.293 billion dollars, increasing 24.67% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 15.56% of gross export value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile export was 33.7.6 billion dollars, increasing 18.97% compared with the same period of last year; and apparel export was 59.533 billion dollars, increasing 28.16% compared with the same period of last year.
Gross export value of textile and apparel in China was 64.032 billion dollars, increasing 24.49% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 14.94% of gross export value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile export was 24.505 billion dollars, increasing 19.69% compared with the same period of last year; and apparel export was 39.527 billion dollars, increasing 27.66% compared with the same period of last year.
Among the main export countries and areas of textile and apparel, USA was the top one, Japan and Hong Kong PR China became the top two and three. In Jan. to Aug, 2006, China's export to USA reached 13.5.8 billion dollars, increasing 6.67% year-on-year; export to Japan was 12.083 billion dollars, increasing 7.73% compared with the same period of last year; export to Hong Kong PR China was up to 11.732 billion dollars, up 23.88% compared with the same period of last year. Total value of export to the above three countries and area reached 37.395 billion dollars, taking up 40.08% of total export of textile and apparel. Export to EU and America reached 28.468 billion dollars, increasing 9.03% compared with the same period of last year, taking up 30.51% of China's total export value of textile and apparel. Export to other non-restricted countries reached 64.825 billion dollars, increasing 33.06% compared with the same period of last year, taking up 69.49% of China's total export value of textile and apparel.
