Unheard-of National Pavilions from Europe

Sponsored by China National Textile and Apparel Council and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and jointly organized by the Textile Sub-council of CCPIT, China Textile Machinery Association and China International Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd., the 10th China International Textile Machinery Exhibition (CITME 2006) will be held in China International Exhibition Center in Beijing on October 17-21, 2006.

As the most professional and international exhibition and the first UFI-certified exhibition in China, CITME has attracted high attention of both the textile machinery industry and the textile industry worldwide since its debut. Up to now, more than 1,000 companies from 25 countries and regions have registered for the participation of CITME 2006. Germany, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, UK, France, the Republic of Korea, the United States and Taiwan will organize national/regional pavilions to present at the exhibition. In addition, Belgium and Czech will for first the first time present at the exhibition in the form of national pavilion. To offer more exhibition space to enthusiastic textile machinery manufacturers, the organizer has to set up temporary exhibition halls with a total exhibition space of 8,000 square meters. So the total exhibition space of CITME 2006 is up to 65,000 square meters, hitting the highest record in its history in terms of both number of exhibitors and exhibition space.

As Chinese market for textile machinery is expanding and has increasing demand for technologically advanced, versatile, high-speed and high productivity textile machinery that can provide guarantee to stable quality of products, China has become the most important market for worldwide textile machinery manufacturers; and with the fast development of Asian textile industry, Asian textile machinery market covers increasing share of the world market. The enthusiastic response of overseas exhibitors reflects not only the appeal of CITME brand, but also the importance of Chinese and Asian markets for foreign textile machinery manufacturers.

According to related statistics, the demand for textile machinery on Chinese market amounts to around US$ 8 billion. Recently, China actually imports about US$ 3.5 billion worth of textile machinery every year, in which, about US$ 1 billion worth of the textile machinery come from Europe, covering nearly 30% of the market. According to the strategic targets mapped out in the 11th “Five-year Plan”, while importing state-of-the-art textile machinery from abroad, Chinese textile machinery manufacturers are encouraged to improve independent innovation ability and sustainable development ability via digesting foreign advanced technology, so that by the end of the 11th “Five-year Plan” period (2006-2010), the main products of the Chinese textile machinery industry can catch up with the advanced level in the world. To reach this magnificent goal, it is necessary for us to draw support from world leading textile machinery manufacturing nations, absorb the latest technologies and develop new technologies of own intellectual property right. CITME no doubt will offer an ideal platform for both importing suitable foreign technologies while exporting own products.

European National Pavilions Join CITME Enthusiastically

CITME 2006, depending on its brand appeal and effective cooperation with the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers (CEMATEX), has attracted many overseas exhibitors who intend to take this good opportunity to increasing their market share on Chinese market.

On CITME 2006, the Textile Machinery Branch of VDMA will organize some 60 German exhibitors to show their latest developments at German pavilion, which is the largest overseas pavilion on the exhibition; about 40 Italian companies manufacturing textile machinery led by the Italian Textile Machinery Association ACIMIT will exhibit at CTIME 2006; Some twenty leading Swiss players in the textile machinery sector will jointly demonstrate their technological expertise and innovative power in a unique showcase. European exhibitors are full of confidence and looking forward to a successful CTIME 2006.

German National Pavilion favors to Invest in China

German textile machinery industry is proud of being a reliable partner for investments in the future.
At CITME 2006, the German textile machinery specialists will demonstrate their latest developments in technology and service at the official German pavilion. In hall 2, on 2000 square meters, some 60 German exhibitors will show all the sectors of textile machines from spinning to finishing.

“In 2005, German textile machinery and accessories amounting to 742 million Euro were shipped to the PR China, thus representing 22 % of our total exports. German textile machinery played a key role during the upgrading of Chinese textile plants in the last years”, explains Thomas Waldmann, Managing Director of the Textile Machinery Branch of VDMA.

Most requests in 2005 came from the knitting and hosiery market and amounted to 253 million Euro, followed by the weaving (137 million Euro) and the spinning sector (126 million Euro). “To be considered as such a reliable partner for investments in the future makes us proud. In order to deepen this working-together with our Chinese partners, we initiated the German pavilion at CITME, offering customers and prospects a first class address to exchange information and experience,” summarises Waldmann.

Italian National Pavilion High hopes ITMA Asia + CITME 2008

The Italian Textile Machinery Association ACIMIT announced that about 40 Italian companies manufacturing textile machinery are going to exhibit at CITME 2006. In the Italian Pavillion located in Hall 4, CITME’s visitors will find the most up-to-date Italian technologies in the spinning, weaving, knitting and finishing sectors.

For a long time the solutions provided by the Italian textile machinery manufacturers have been succeeding in the Chinese market. China is the leading market for the Italian textile machinery industry, having a share of 17% on the total Italian exports. In the four months of 2006 the Italian sales in China increased of 17% on the same period of 2005. Knitting machines were largely requested (34% of the Italian sales in China in the first four months of 2006), followed by spinning machines (29%) and weaving machines (26%).

300 Italian companies (with 22,000 employees) that in 2005 produced machinery for a value of Euro 2,500 million, pay the highest attention to the requests of the textile industry to propose new solutions of innovation, productivity, safety with the utmost satisfaction of their clients.

The quality of the Italian textile technology is testified by the high number of Countries where the Italian machinery are sold: about 130. In 2005 exports represented 79% of total sales. Asia (with a share of 42%) is the main destination for Italian sector exports, followed by Europe (40%), Latin America (7%) and North America (6%).

The partecipation of Italian textile machinery manufacturers at CITME 2006 has been coordinated by ACIMIT and ICE (Italian Trade Commission), through its office in Beijing and its headoffice in Rome.

CITME 2006 will also provide a backdrop for the official launching of the new ITMA Asia + CITME 2008. ACIMIT has already expressed its broad satisfaction with the cooperation agreement reached for ITMA Asia among CEMATEX (the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers), CTMA (China Textile Machinery Association), CCPIT-Tex (Sub Council of Textile Industry, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade) and CIEC (China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation).

“The arrival to the Chinese market of the ITMA brand”, commented Dr. Paolo Banfi, President of ACIMIT, “should be considered a positive note providing a further boost for many textile machinery manufacturers. The partnership with CITME provides added value to the operation. We are confident that the first edition of ITMA Asia + CITME in 2008 will be a resounding success.”

A similar degree of satisfaction comes from the comments of some important Italian textile machinery manufacturers who will be present next October at CITME 2006.
Dr. Daniele Pellissetti of Savio Macchine Tessili - Itema Group - confirms his satisfaction with the agreement: “We are all very well aware of ITMA’s attraction and appeal for textile manufacturers. The shift in location to Shanghai, the two-year scheduling and agreement reached with a recognised event such as CITME is good news for exhibitors who are planning to be in Shanghai in 2008.”

Mr. Rossano Biancalani, General Manager of Biancalani, states: “ITMA Asia’s move from Singapore to Shanghai and the merging of two out of the three main trade fairs in the industry is definitely good news. The Chinese market will continue to be a high growth potential market for a long time to come: ITMA Asia + CITME represents a high-level showcase where we can present our most up-to-date and innovative products to Chinese customers.”

Dr. Roberto Pilotelli, General Manager of Pilotelli Macchine Tessili, comments: “We’re pleased to hear that ITMA Asia and CITME have combined forces to offer textile machinery manufacturers and their customers a high quality event in China. A prominent trade fair organized every two years in the Chinese market will undoubtedly serve to rationalize the trade fair calendar in a country in which the high number of events held in the past has certainly not helped to raise the level of technology proposals offered.”

Mr. Ettore Lonati, President of Lonati Group, states: "We are looking forward to a very successful ITMA Asia + CITME 2008. We believe that the combined experience of both brands will make a fantastic show. ITMA Asia and CITME are exhibitions organised by the industry for the industry and the organiser understands our needs and the needs of our customers".

Swiss exhibitors are highly confident of Chinese market

During CITME 2006, some twenty Swiss textile machinery manufacturers will jointly demonstrate their technological expertise and innovative power in a unique showcase in the Swiss pavilion in Hall 5.

Swiss textile machinery manufacturers represented by Swissmem believe that China is certainly the most important nation in the textile world. The Chinese textile industry is not only the worldwide biggest supplier of textile and apparel, but also the one with the most impressive economical development in recent years. This gives evidence for the ongoing efforts for technological upgrading in order to cope with the increasing quality standards in the global textile market. No wonder, exhibitors from all over the world are enthusiastically coming to this year's CITME. This is also true for the Swiss textile machinery manufacturers. They are looking forward with confidence to a very successful show.

In the 2005, the Swiss textile machinery industry exported goods worth two billion CHF, whereof 50 % was to Asian markets, compared to 22 % in 1998. The growth rate of these economies exceeded expectations impressively, most of all China. However, these export figures show only part of the Swiss global operations. Together with its overseas holdings, Switzerland is in first position in a worldwide ranking of textile machinery manufacturers. With an estimated global market share of some 30 %, the Swiss play indeed a leading role in the textile machinery world. A key element in explaining this success lies certainly in the strong commitment to R&D activities and, most decisive, in the ability to transform innovative concepts into marketable products which requires a high degree of entrepreneurial vision. In addition, doing business and cooperating with foreign companies are long-standing Swiss traditions. The strong commitment of the Swiss textile machinery manufacturers to the Chinese market goes back to the early decades of the last century. Various forms of fruitful cooperation have developed since then, and the many Swiss direct investments effectively illustrate their confidence in the future of this market.

All the leading Swiss textile machinery manufacturers are paying great attention to this year’s CITME, the most important show in the region. They are well prepared to demonstrate their competence in anticipating customers’ requirements and in serving as a motor of technological innovation. In Hall No 5, leading Swiss exhibitors are jointly displaying their latest achievements in a unique setting with a touch of Switzerland – an exiting live experience. Visitors can be assured that they will get a taste of Swiss innovative power, and, that their Swiss partners are doing the utmost to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation. Satisfied, successful customers are undeniably the most important assets of any business. The Swiss make it their mission to understand customer needs and expectations, and to provide clients with reliable, innovative and realistic solutions. In the final analysis, what counts in an increasingly demanding world market are competitive products. Swiss precision and engineering excellence is reflected in an innovative approach to textile technology and in reliability with regard to service that is second to none. They believe, the future belongs to the best and the future development of China means both challenge and opportunity.

UCMTF Pays Close Attention to the cooperation with Chinese partners

French Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (UCMTF) believes that China is the main market for the French textile machinery manufacturers. In 2005, French exports nearly reached Euros 100 million (a slight decrease compared with 2004) accounting for 10 % of global French exports in this sector.

UCMTF will again group 7 companies to present at French pavilion located in Hall 4.
The French exhibitors include: N. Schlumberger, Asselin-Thibeau (NSC Nonwoven), Ebelmann, Fil Control, Superba, AESA Air Engineering and Dollfus and Muller. Dollfus and Muller is a manufacturer of key spare parts such as open mesh conveyors belts and endless felts for dryers, calendering, sanforizing and decatizing machines.

“What is important, in China”, says Evelyne Cholet, UCMTF’s Secretary General, “is not only to have close, permanent relationships with the customers but also to advise them on industry trends and new promising products”.

This 2006 edition of CITME will be the last as starting in 2008, it will join ITMA Asia to form” ITMA Asia + CITME 2008” which will move to Shanghai. UCMTF is looking forward a successful event.

BTMA Keeps Taking a Part in CITME for 10 Years

British Textile Machinery Association (BTMA) has organized national pavilion to present at CITME since the debut of the exhibition and this year will be 9th times. On CITME 2006, 11 British textile machinery manufacturers will be once again exhibiting their latest technical developments under the banner of BTMA. British-built machinery play important role in China. Many of these products have been installed in China and are highly appreciated by Chinese customers. According to Mr. Alan Little, Chairman of BTMA, China covers nearly 50% of the British textile machinery exports. He believes that China will remain the No. 1 market for UK machinery manufacturers at least in the coming decade.
